Monsignor Stephen C. Worsley, who was recently named the Director of Mission Outreach at St. Joseph of the Pines in Southern Pines, calls it a “dream job.”

For Monsignor it is also like coming home. His mother grew up and was married in Pinehurst and his grandfather, Tom Cole, was the village pharmacist from 1924 to 1942.

Monsignor Worsley brings with him a unique and extensive background in Pastoral Services as well as Mission and Ethics to the campuses of Belle Meade, Pine Knoll, and the other entities at St. Joseph of the Pines (SJP). Previous to his new position, Monsignor served on the board of directors of SJP.

If you’re not familiar with St. Joseph of the Pines (SJP) it is an aging services network offering a full continuum of retirement housing, health care and community-based services for older adults as well as community outreach to those in need. It is a Trinity Senior Living Community continuing the legacy of the Sisters of Providence.

Since his arrival, Monsignor Worsley launched a series of lectures titled, ”Spiritual Life After 60”, which were filled with insightful and sometimes lighthearted observances of spiritual issues which become more important as we age. These lectures were held on the campuses of Pine Knoll and Belle Meade.

A native of Pitt County, Monsignor Worsley earned degrees in chemistry, medicine, divinity and moral theology at the University of North Carolina, Duke University, the University of Notre Dame, and the Accamenia Alfonsiana in Rome, Italy. With publications in church history, art history, and bioethics, he has lectured in Asia, Africa, Europe and North America.

Monsignor believes that there are always “incredible opportunities to do more and do better.”

Please join me in welcoming Monsignor Worsley to our community and to SJP. Monsignor invites the public to attend Mass on the campuses of Belle Meade or Pine Knoll. The schedule is as follows: Pine Knoll 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. Belle Meade’s schedule is 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, and 9:00 a.m. on Sunday. All are welcome

I have many clients who have chosen to take the next step and have listed their homes with me and made the moved to Belle Meade or Pine Knoll. Most have then remarked that they waited too long and should have made the move sooner. If you would like more information on how to make a smooth transition into senior living and start the next exciting chapter of your life give me a call today at: 910-528-6427.
