Come join the celebration and historic pageantry of the Moore County Hunt Club Saturday, February 9, from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Weymouth Center for the Arts & Humanities, 555 East Connecticut Avenue, Southern Pines. Weymouth, the original home of the Moore County Hounds, will host the gathering of the hounds and horses prior to the start of Saturday’s hunt.

Learn about the traditions and history of the hunt, which was founded 1914 by author James Boyd and his brother Jackson. Weymouth was not only the Boyd’s home but also first home and kennel to the Moore County Hounds. It is the oldest recognized pack of foxhounds in NC and one of the oldest packs in America. Today the kennels are located on Sheldon Road and the hounds are cared for and trained by Lincoln Sadler, who has held the professional huntsman position since 2016. Come meet and mingle with the members of the MCHC and learn more about the hounds, horses and the hunt.
