There’s nothing better than a lazy day spent out on the lake. Whether it’s paddling a canoe, catching the wind in the sails, or cruising along on a pontoon, it’s pure relaxation and fun: And what better place to do this than Pinehurst Lake.

Pinehurst NC Lin Hutaff Realty

While Pinehurst is known for its famed golf courses and historic Village, Pinehurst Lake has a community life all it’s own.

Originally built in 1950, Pinehurst Lake was created from Horse Creek, a small spring-fed stream. In 1972 the lake was expanded to 200 acres in order to irrigate the original five Pinehurst golf courses. Today the lake is home to beautiful homes, villas, and a number of unique “tree-houses”.

If you get a chance to play Course #5, please do so it’s a real treat and features lovely views of the lake.

Pinehurst Lake features an active and involved homeowners association which hosts several fun events. From April to October there are sailboat races each Sunday at 3:00 p.m. and the annual Boat Parade is held on July 4th. Powerboats and jet skis are not permitted on the lake making it an ideal quiet place to host pontoon cocktail cruises and I hear the fishing is pretty good.

If you’re a Pinehurst Club Member or visiting the resort the Beach Club is a popular place on the lake. Highlights of the Beach Club include rental pontoon boats, paddle board rentals, the snack bar, and the large sandy beach with excellent swimming.

Pinehurst has many gems in its midst but Lake Pinehurst has to be my favorite.
